Search Engine Optimization or SEO by ArcticLlama

Search Engine Optimization or SEO can mean different things. To some, SEO is a way to "trick" search engines into ranking a page or website higher in search results. If this is your goal, please look elsewhere. To other Search Engine Optimization is nothing more than customizing good solid content in such a way as to make it as relevant and valued to a machine (all SEO algorithms are run by unmanned computers) as it does to humans.

How? Well, there are several things to consider when designing a page to be properly optimized for search engines. One of the most important is having a proper layout for your site so that the search engine spiders can and do examine your entire site. Another basic strategy is key word rich content. Although many things go into a search page ranking, one of the ways these search engine robots determine how much information a page has is by how many times certain key words are used. The days of just repeating a key word over and over at the bottom of your page (usually in a hidden manner) have passed because the search engine providers have caught onto that trick and tuned their algorithms to ignore such chicanery. But, a site or page with a key phrase used often in the course of normal language may rank higher.

Notice on this page for example how the header says both Search Engine Optimization and SEO? That is because the search engine spiders sometimes give a higher value to key words inside of headers. Of course, to avoid the trick of making the whole page a header, only so much text will be considered a legitimate header. We kept ours short and sweet. But, we included both SEO and Search Engine Optimization. Why? Because some people will search for "SEO" and some people will search for "Search Engine Optimization". By putting both in our header (and title by the way), we increase the chances of the search engines noticing and, more importantly, valuing our page. We did not put either the phrase Search Engine Optimization or the acronym SEO in parenthesis to avoid inadvertently throwing off the search algorithm robots. Notice in this entire article the repetition of both SEO and Search Engine Optimization in varying forms and order. Again, you as a human know the value of this page. To a robot however the simple repetition of certain words may look like a trick. But, repeating the words in varying ways and content looks like legitimate text.

All this is well and good, but if a visitor comes to your page to find nothing more than a bunch of worthless unreadable text that no one but a search robot would love, they are not going to stay and find what your site has to offer. So the key then is not just to jam as many key words as possible onto a site, but rather to provide informative and compelling content that is also relevant and appreciated by the search engines. That is what we do here at ArcticLlama.

Check out this article regarding 401(k)s at Finance Gourmet.
Notice how 401(k) is repeated over and over.
Notice how 401k is written both with and without parenthesis (Google corrects for this kind of thing but not all search engines do.)
Notice how 401k appears repeatedly in the heading (bolded sections) and in the links. Again, all things that will increase this page's ability to match search terms. Because 401(k) is an impossibly competitive term for all but the largest and most established pages, this page is structured to catch many of the secondary terms.
Notice both RMD and Required Minimum Distribution featured prominently on the page. Now, this page has a much better chance when someone searches for "401k RMD"
Most importantly notice that when someone does get to this page, they'll want to stay. This isn't a junk article with a bunch of terms jammed into it. There is good information. That is how we do SEO key-word freindly content here at ArcticLlama.

Finally, a big component of most search engine results is links on the Internet that point to your website. In other words, all the greatest content in the world won't help if no one points to it. As part of our service, ArcticLlama will work to get you those links. We are active all over the Internet and can provide relevant links back to your site through our involvement in various online communities. The key word there is relevant. We aren't about sham links or spamming your name all over the place. If you provide a legitimate source of information or other service, we'll be happy to help you earn your rightful place in the search results rankings. If you have a scam website full of worthless pages that you want to trick unsuspecting web surfers into visiting, don't call us. There are plenty of anything for a dollar SEO experts out there. We aren't one of them.

Note: ArcticLlama does not place value judgments on your site or your content. We welcome all viewpoints and all site content as long as you are trying to provide real value, we are willing to help regardless of the nature of your site.

There are obviously many more issues to take into account for Search Engine Optimization and we would be happy to discuss them in relation to your needs.
